EOB (Explanation of Benefits)

A statement your insurer sends after a claim is processed, showing what was billed, what insurance paid, and what you owe. It is not a bill.

Example

An EOB might show a $2,000 billed charge, a $1,400 negotiated-rate discount, $500 paid by insurance, and $100 owed by you — the hospital bills you separately for that $100.
