About healthcosts.net

healthcosts.net is an independent, non-commercial project that makes US hospital price-transparency data actually usable. Since 2021, federal rules (45 CFR §180) require every US hospital to publish its prices in machine-readable files. Those files are public, but they arrive as hundred-megabyte JSON and CSV dumps that no patient can realistically read. We download them, normalise them, and publish every price as a browsable page — with a link back to the hospital's own file on every number.

What we are not

  • We don't sell insurance, leads, or advertising.
  • We don't estimate your out-of-pocket cost — that depends on your plan.
  • We don't editorialise. Where the same scan costs $904 with one insurer and $1,509 with another, the numbers speak for themselves.

How to reach us

Corrections, questions, or press: data@healthcosts.net. Every page also carries a link to the exact source file it was built from, so you can verify any number against the hospital's own publication. Our full methodology is on the Data & methodology page.
